Add "spam bait" to your signature. Spam bait are addresses that screw
up mass mailing lists by creating loops in the mail demon. Most spammed
addresses come from robots that troll newsgroups. Here's some SPAM bait
examples:
abuse@localhost, admin@loopback, $LOGIN@localhost, $LOGNAME@localhost,
postmaster@localhost. $USER@localhost, $USER@$HOST, -h1024@localhost, root@mailloop.com
Again, since most addresses come from newsgroups, modify your name in your newsreader; i.e., joeuser@myisp.com could be joe!user@myisp.com [tell people to take the ! out] or joenospamuser@myisp.com. You get the idea.
Get an address from a vigorous anti-spam mail provider like Bigfoot [www.bigfoot.com] and use that address as your reply to: address. This keeps A LOT of junk mail away!!
It's a BAD idea to reply to "remove" addresses, as this usually only confirms your email address as active, and sends extra spam your way. And be wary of clicking a URL embedded in an unsolicited message, as this may reveal your email address to that Web site!
