This is not meant to be a catalog, or even a complete representation of all the SAAB models and toys out there - it's just my attempt to capture as many examples as possible, with links to the manufacturer if I can find them. Perhaps someday I'll have time to write up a little about each company - but not today!

Aurora - these are custom resin HO Scale Sonett III's based on the Thunderbolt chassis with Vincent wheels. Very nicely done!

All kinds of colors and details - can't wait to get one myself, but I keep getting sniped on the bids...

This is what the raw-resin bodies look like before finishing. There's a NG/GM 900 as well as the Sonett II, but I've never seen a finished example of the 900.

Autodrome (Netherlands)

Very unusual SAAB 96 ragtop.

Available as a kit as well. Since the 96 never came from the factory as a convertible, it's interesting to see it as a model. Some 96 Cabrios here.

Autosculpt (Sheffield, UK)

Autosculpt SAAB 95 - Gaydon SAAB Club - 1998

These are [I believe] made of aluminum powder in a resin base - they look very nice and would make an excellent addition to any collection. Many variations available. Most [27 as of June, 2005] are 1:87 or 1:92, but there are about a dozen 1:43 models as well. I have three of the little ones so far.

Many thanks to Iain who has commissioned most of these from Keith Dungworth, the proprietor, including some special items for the International SAAB club meetings in Gaydon, UK.

Even the 9-x concept got a casting - with or without the "SAABFREAK" label.

Yes, that's a penholder and a business card holder...
And the AWESOME 96 towing a SAABO husvagn!
"Husvagn" is Swedish for Caravan, which is British for Camper.

Bandai/Cragstan (Japan)
Rare and collectable 1:12 tinplate toys.

The SAAB 93B (1962) was made to approximately 1/18th scale, approx. 19 cms in length, and has a friction "push-and-go" mechanism - no batteries!

Model #10615 according to the markings on the box.

Some items are labeled "Bandai" and some "Cragstan," but they are the same models. The 93b at the far right is Model #11661.

If the boxes didn't say "SAAB," you'd never know what these are.

The 99's pictured here are remote controlled [and don't look much like a 99, but what can you do?].

Both the blue or white ""International Swedish Rally - Sonab" (# 4107) and the black "Costa Esmeralda - Clarion" (# 4101) models were made in a 1:24 and 1:43 scale.

Brio / Joker (Sweden)

Brio offers gift packs which have figures, etc. I've seen these in airports in Europe, but never ones with SAABs in them.

The 9000i [9000 S in the US] was also made in black and silver. Early 9000 models have 900 style grille and front turn indicators. Later models have the correct square cornes.

These 92s and 93s are plastic, like Plasto or Galanite.

This very rare one is metal.

Brio markets various toys under the "Joker" or "Junior Driver" name. Possibly made by Hongwell. 1:72 and 1:43 scale.

If you're lucky, you can find a whole set of the re-branded Hongwell SAABs - I have the middle set.

Anther gift-pack - this one under the Joker brand.

9-5 Wagons - also in black

1:18 scale Radio Controled 1993 Viggen, 27 or 40 MHz. Marketed by Brio through SAAB dealers (SAAB part no 41229) and Swedish supermarkets.

Corgi (UK) - also "Lledo"

Best known for the many 96's, in many styles and colors.

There are several variants of the 9000 - I have four, including two promoting Virgin Airlines, and two with racing stripes, and one plain - the base car came in either white or red

Some nice Rally versions - No. 5 is the Pat Moss car (1962 Safari Rally, Catalog # 96662), 283 is Per Eklund's.

Corgi Vanguards 1:43 Scale Limited Editions of 3000:

Model D711 is the "classic" model.

Hongwell / Cararama
/ Hot Riders

Many of these are current and fairly easy to find. They have both 1:43 and 1:72 models.

There is a lot of variation for regional markets - especially in the police lineup.

These are the same models marketed by Schuco as part of their Junior line. Hongwell is the manufacturer of all of Schuco's Junior items.

The rally version is IXO cat number CIXJ000008 Saab 96 V4 as driven by Stig Blomqvist and Arne Hertz in the 1972 Swedish Rally.

All the 900's seem to be the same 1:62 scale 5-door casting, # 284, with different paint schemes.

A little cruder than Matchbox, but the "combos" with the boats and caravans are really cool.

Marpytoys (Holland)
92.001, or URSAAB is a 1:43 scale model, commissioned by Dutch collectors. Most of the production of 80 hand made pieces are in the hands of members of Rhenen (Saab Club Nederland). Thanks to Peter IJpema for the pictures!

Matchbox/Lesney [UK]

PowerTrack is Matchbox's slot car line.

The # 15 came in a Red and a Striped version - I have a couple of each. Also labeled as #22, "Road & Rally."

The # 85 Sonett III is still widely available and a nice model.

I have a couple of these, including one I've disassembled and stripped. I plan to paint it yellow with a black interior, just like my real one.

The #85 Sonett III in WHITE is extremely rare and fetches a high price - yes, I have one and no, you can't have it.

The Matchbox "Super GT" cars are a slightly smaller scale than the "regular" line and not as well made - no opening doors/hatches, etc.

Minichamps (Germany)

Made by "Paul's Model Art." Originally sold through SAAB dealers or through the SAAB Catalog.

It was on the 24 of October 1996. When the sun went down over the Talladega Super speedway in the USA a SAAB 900 rolled over the finish line. It had been driving with the pedal at the floor, for 24 hours a day for 8 days, and beat 40 international records. Taken directly from the factory this SAAB 900 2,0 Turbo has among others beaten the international record for the distance 25.000 miles (40.000km), with an average speed of 226,450 km/h including refueling, tire change and service. This is the Minichamps edition of the 1/43 scale model of the winning car.

I think this might be made by Universal/Eagle and re-badged as Minichamps, but I could be wrong.
This is the 96 from the 1964 East African Safari Rally.

Made by Simple Wishes, these micro-sized cards are as wide as they are long. Advertised as being "Phlat, Phat, and Phast," they come in two-packs and there is a transporter available as well. I have a couple of these, they're fun!.

Rare and expensive models, not necessarily hard to find, but they fetch top dollar - mostly 1:43.

This white SAAB 92 is number 119A. It celebrates the Monte Carlo Rally driven by Mellde and Svedberg - #153.

The Silver Sonett is # 135A. It celebrates the Coupes des Alpes Rally, driven by Erik Carlsson - #2

The Red Sonett is # 135 and celebrates Pat Moss's victory at the same rally.

Also, as # 125, came in plain red and white - possibly other colours.
